Routes and navigation

What does Route Lock do?

It keeps the route you chose unchanged. If you leave it, a separate line can guide you back without replacing the original route.

Does Good Route reroute automatically?

No. Rejoin the locked route, continue without changing it or choose a replacement yourself.

What happens if I choose a new route?

The original stays saved. The replacement is saved separately.

Can I import GPX files?

Yes. Imported tracks show the original line without turn guidance.

Is it only for motorcyclists?

No. Choose car, motorbike, van, camper or lorry. The profile affects the journey estimate and is saved with the route. Always verify height, width, weight and access restrictions yourself.

Will navigation work offline?

The active locked route, manoeuvres and session state are cached so a journey can survive a connection problem or restart. Full downloadable regional maps are planned for a later release.

Group rides and privacy

How does a group ride work?

Create a ride and share its six-character code. Other riders enter that code and a nickname to join. Each rider sees the group's latest positions while keeping their own locked route.

Does the group control my route?

No. Group locations are a separate map layer. Joining, leaving or seeing another rider never changes your locked route.

Is my location history stored?

No. The group service keeps one latest position per rider. A position fades after two minutes without an update. Leaving deletes that rider record, finishing deletes the ride, and abandoned rides are removed after seven days.

Access and availability

Is there a subscription?

On iPhone, Good Route Annual includes a one-month free trial and then costs £29.99 a year. You can plan and preview routes before subscribing; starting navigation and temporary group rides require an active subscription. Android is still in internal testing and its purchase model has not been announced.

Do I need an account?

No account is required for ordinary planning, saved routes, GPX, preferences or navigation.

What is the current release status?

The iPhone app is awaiting App Store review. Android is available to invited internal testers.

Does it work with CarPlay and Android Auto?

CarPlay is included in the current iPhone build. Android Auto is included in the Android internal test build. Plan new destinations on the phone while parked. Physical car testing and platform car-app review are still outstanding.

Calm and accessible use

What are Calm Navigation and Minimal mode?

Calm Navigation reduces movement, detail and alerts. Minimal mode reduces nearby road detail so the route, position and next decision stay prominent.

Is Good Route designed for neurodivergent users?

It is designed with cognitive accessibility in mind. Predictable layouts, short labels, reduced motion and adjustable guidance may help some autistic and other neurodivergent users. No single interface works for everyone, so these choices remain adjustable.

Does it support screen readers and reduced motion?

The interface is being built for VoiceOver and TalkBack, scalable text, clear focus order, reduced motion and stronger contrast. Accessibility testing is ongoing, so feedback is welcome.
